Long-Term Care Insurance

Long-Term Care Insurance

Like its name suggests, long-term care insurance provides coverage if you suffer a serious illness or injury that requires ongoing medical care over a long period. This insurance kicks in once your basic health insurance and other programs such as Medicare and Medicaid have already paid out benefits.

Long-term care insurance typically pays for nursing care or home health aids who provide assistance with daily living, such as bathing, dressing or using the bathroom. You may need this type of care if you are seriously injured in an accident or develop a chronic or life-threatening condition such as cancer.

Without long-term care coverage, you could lose your home and all your personal assets trying to pay for your medical care.
